• In 2002, three friends met at the Malvern Hotel and started playing a Brownlow Medal tipping competition based on selected players in the teams they supported
• They expanded their competition by selecting players from all teams and each invited a friend making it 6 attendees the following year
• Each year a new attendee can invite a friend to attend the following year - this has continued to today with 370 members

• The Carji Club is named after the inaugural Brownlow Medallist Edward Carji Greeves

The Carji Lunch

• The Carji Lunch was initially held in the Malvern Hotel but due to the size of the members attending (342 in 2025) it is now held in the Olympic Room at the MCG
• The Guest speaker is a Brownlow Medallist who can designate a charity for the Carji to raise funds
• Guest speakers include Peter Bedford, Gary Ablett Jnr, Chris Judd, Ian Stewart, John Platten, Kevin Murray, Peter Moore and others
• As of 2025, the club has raised $253,000 for charity
• Charities include Reach, Debra Australia, Ladder, Fight for Bella, EJ Whitten, Captain Courageous, Compassion Australia and more
